8 shot journey video and evaultion

For this Assignment we had to film and edit a short 8 shot squence without any camera movement.

Firstly I designed storyboard so I knew what shot I was going to film, then I got out a camera and filmed all the shots I needed, then I uploaded the footage onto the Macs and edited the footage together using adobe final cut pro, then I compressed the 8 shot journey using the compressor software on the Macs.

I thought the 8 shot journey when well at everything was shot i one take expect one shot that was ruined by someone walking into the shot.

Jingle Evaultion

For this assignment we had to make three jingles: one show promo, one station indent and one news jingle. We did this by using Adobe Soundbooth and the Macs which were difficult to use at first until you get use to them and Soundbooth sometimes crashes while you do your work.

The first jingle I made was the station indent which is used to tell the listener what radio station they’re listening to. For this jingle I recorded my voice using the Mac’s built in microphone which was easy to use but can pick up unwanted background noise. I chose some cheesy upbeat music that was on the Mac so this because it was happy and cheerful to get the listener’s attention. I thought this jingle went well and the music and vocals worked well and were timed perfectly. If I could do this again I would make sure that the vocals are clearer except from that everything else was fine.

The second jingle was the news jingle which is used to let the listener know it’s time for the news. For this jingle I got my vocals by using the Mac’s built-in microphone again and for the music I used a website that converts youtube videos into MP3 files I choose that music as it was calm and relax but serious as well so the listener felt a little relaxed while they had the news. I thought went well as it captured the listener’s attention and it wasn’t to long. Next time I would make that the vocals are more cleared and easier to understand what’s being read on the script.

The third jingle was the show promo so the audience knew what DJ they were listening to and what kind of music will be played. This to record my voice in another room so there was no chance of background noise and for the music I used the website to convert all the songs I needed for the promo. I thought this was one of the best jingles I have ever made as I managed to mix the vocals and music so that they introduced the show to the listener it was very upbeat and energetic to match the show’s mood. If I could do it again I’ll make it longer and have a bigger mix of songs.

On this project I used my pervious skills from First Diploma Media to make my three jingles for this project; I found it easier to make jingles last year as I used a software called Adobe Auction which easier to understand, use the tools of the software unlike this project were I did not know who the stuff I could do with ease on last years project. In conclusion I would prefer to use Adobe Auction to Adobe Soundbooth, with Adobe Auction for example I could cut a piece of audio into two halves with one tool then delete the bit I don’t need while on Adobe Soundbooth you need to zoom in on the audio and highlight the piece then right click it to delete the unwanted audio. So basically if I was to do this project again I would use Auction instead of Soundbooth.

Radio Jingle Notes Codes and Conventions

Radio jingles are used to advertise the radio station and the stations frequency and shows on the station they're also used to indentifity what your listening to on the radio for example a news jingle.
A jingle is normally short, simple and normally styled depending on there target audience for example Radio 1 normally have a fast paced jingle because it aimed at teenagers and Radio 2 have slow paced jingles as it aimed more at older generation. Jingle also have cleared, articulate and give correct and relevant information. Jingle will use music and sound effect that is recognisable, relevant and appriorate for the target audience. Show promo jingles have to say the presenter's name, what kind of show is it, what time the shows on and how long it's on for sometimes show promos have clips from past shows.
